Future Goals
Smart Start of Davidson County is a pioneer program. One of the earliest Smart Start networks in North Carolina, it has responded to the needs of Davidson County children, parents, employees, and employers. The extensive network of agencies and providers offers a wide range of services, free of charge, to children and parents.
Community Working Together
The continued success of the program depends upon a strong collaboration between Smart Start and the community. Early childhood education, adequate health care, and a positive family environment are necessary for a child's well-being and development.
Support from business and community leaders is vital to guarantee quality child care and education. Regardless of income, education, or nationality, all parents want the best for their children, and the community does too.
Smart Start of Davidson County reflects an investment in the children and in the future.
Future goals include:
- Providing quality child care to all children
- Enhancing the quality and availability of child care centers and family child care homes
- Increasing child care teacher wages and benefits
- Providing resources to early childhood professionals to ensure their educational needs are met
- Helping the community understand the importance of child care and early childhood on the local economy
- Ensuring ready schools
- Funding more early childhood instructors at the local community college
- Continuing to form partnerships with child care centers, family child care homes, school systems, businesses, churches, and parents
Our children's future depends upon it.
