Evaluation
An evaluation process is an important element of Smart Start in order to guarantee program activities are meeting the community's needs.
As part of the evaluation process for Smart Start of Davidson County, program activities, the quality of services, and outcomes achievement are reviewed annually. The evaluation component assists in determining the effectiveness of programs and identifies areas for future development.
Evaluation Methods
FOCUS GROUPS - Parents with children in child care participate in focus group interviews for discussion, feedback, and recommendations.
NEEDS ASSESSMENT - Research is conducted in partnership with other agencies to determine whether Smart Start programs are addressing child care needs in the community.
OUTCOME ACHIEVEMENT - Providers are monitored and reports are given on the achievement of program goals.
Smart Start of Davidson County has contracted with Compass Consulting of Durham, NC to evaluate and make recommendations on Smart Start activities.
